The Lane Center for Academic Health Sciences at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS) is the first of several projects that make up the new Health and Wellness Precinct on UCCS’s north campus. The vision for this precinct is built on the idea of harnessing the synergies of a public-private development to focus on health and wellness issues within the community and region. The Lane Center combines medical outpatient clinical services, UCCS research space, classrooms, and behavioral health services. It is also the University of Colorado School of Medicine’s first satellite facility providing distance health education to rural areas in southeast Colorado communities.
The building houses the College of Nursing’s care clinic, the CU Aging Center, Gerontology Center, and Trauma Health and Hazards Center, CU School of Medicine and Peak Vista, a non-profit Health Center that provides medical, dental and behavioral healthcare in Colorado’s Pikes Peak and East Central Plains regions. The facility creates a flexible, collaborative, and interdisciplinary environment that fosters research among private and public providers.
The Lane Center creates a multitude of cross-disciplinary research and care opportunities within one facility. Informal spaces located throughout the building promote interdisciplinary collaboration, breaking down the divide within the traditional researcher-clinical care feedback loop.
