Kate Maller Jewelry’s store in the heart of downtown Aspen, Colorado demonstrates a design approach that mirrors the architect-turned-jeweler’s emphasis on craft and sustainability. Located on a prominent corner within Aspen’s retail district, the store showcases jewelry and products sourced sustainably, and in Maller’s personal work, the use of reclaimed fine metals and materials.

Similar to the organic-yet-refined, one-of-a-kind quality of Maller’s jewelry, the store design consists of a clean, modern space complemented by jewelry display boxes created by local artisans and fabricators. Each display element - the wood shelving, dark-metal and glass display boxes, and a notable split-log display table that creates a central focal point within the space - employ detailing that is both rustic and refined.

The sharp, angular quality of the display boxes are softened by an overhead floral arrangement that provides guests with a direct connection to nature and Maller’s emphasis on sustainable processes and materials derived from nature.
