The Information Technology (IT) Facility at the University of Wyoming is the home and information hub for the school’s IT division. The facility provides computing services, labs, offices, sales, and software training in a welcoming environment that provides private, infrastructure-focused spaces and public training, conferencing, and learning spaces.

The building’s exterior design expresses its internal organization; solid, opaque masonry elements house the internal-facing components of the Information Technology Division, including a machine room, control room, and HVAC gallery space. Glazed exterior façade elements highlight the building’s circulation pattern designed around two atria that bring natural light deep into the long building. Large windows also highlight a user “living room” that connects two sides of the building while illuminating adjacent training and classroom spaces.

The building serves as a link and defining edge between a popular greenspace and a pedestrian promenade serving the residential precinct. Retail components are placed along the Western edge of the building to support a major pedestrian connection, while creating porosity and interaction that animates the building’s informal gathering spaces. The result is a campus building that meets the IT division’s technical requirements while creating a campus resource and destination.
