The Daniels College of Business provides a distinguished campus landmark for the school’s leading-edge programs, faculty, and student population. The building provides state-of-the-art learning and amenity spaces for undergraduate, graduate, and executive education programs. Conferencing spaces with seamless technology and flexible furnishings extend beyond Business School use to support the university’s mission of community outreach. The building also houses high-end executive facilities, a center for managerial communication, and a large commons area serviced by a coffee shop and catering kitchen.

With a mission to prepare students for a lifetime of personal and professional success and a belief that world-class facilities allow faculty to deliver challenge-driven education, the design of effective learning environments was a critical component of the project. Rather than apply general planning concepts, the design team created tiered, case-study classrooms developed on a national review of effective precedents. Utilized in a full scale, semester-long mock-up tested by actual classes, the study informed design aspects such as view planes, acoustics, technology, lighting, and furnishings, implemented with broad approval.

The building frames the eastern edge of “Graduation Green” while anchoring the east end of the axis of the Pioneer Plaza to the west of the Green. The building features a brick color and pattern that complement two important nearby buildings. Delicate stonework, color, and pattern accent the building's openings, while providing an architectural vocabulary that doubles as a wayfinding device.
