This high security field office building for the General Services Administration (GSA) includes four stories of office space plus a one story annex space.

The design team of Skidmore Owings & Merrill/Chicago in association with Anderson Mason Dale Architects won this project through a national design competition. The competition was based on GSA’s Design Excellence Program to provide a facility that reflects the dignity, enterprise, vigor, and stability of the Federal Government.

AMD’s specific role in this project was to provide the space planning and interior design of the office and support spaces plus construction administration support. The interior planning and design is focused to avoid compartmentalization which can result in inefficient, non-collaborative and non-flexible spatial arrangements. AMD led the construction administration process for the architectural team on site and in dealing with local authorities.

The resulting work atmosphere provides transparent team neighborhoods connected by clear open sight lines without traditional corridors. Formal and informal collaboration areas are distributed evenly throughout with maximum daylight in all areas.
