The new Science and Industry Building at Salt Lake Community College is a multipurpose technical instructional facility, which consolidates all scientific disciplines of the campus into one building.

In addition to typical classroom programs, a portion of the building is designed to house the railroad technology program and training center for personnel of the Union Pacific Railroad. The building features an atrium with a program display, a library, an observatory, and computer laboratories with accessible floors.
