The University of Colorado’s Institute of Behavioral Science (IBS) is one of the leading institutes in its field. The IBS performs research on a number of important societal issues, including natural hazards, the study and prevention of violence, teenage behaviors impacting health, and issues related to aging populations.

The Institute was previously housed in eight small, sub-standard buildings within the Grandview Terrace area and two floors of a downtown Boulder office building. Overall, the physical separation and deteriorating condition of the majority of its facilities severely compromised the interdisciplinary research mission of IBS.

The new facility includes office clusters for each of the five programs, specialized library collections to support research, the Computing and Research Services group, a data analysis laboratory, and a secure data analysis room.

This building was financed through the Research Building System’s statutory financing authority utilizing institutional funds, consisting primarily of research overhead grants and private donations.
