Colorado’s Ocean Journey, an interactive aquarium, presents the story of water, its qualities and characteristics, and its journey from the mountains to the sea through various fragile ecosystems and weather formations.

The site chosen for Colorado’s Ocean Journey is key to Denver and its association with water. The Historic Platte River Valley, near the confluence of the Platte River and Cherry Creek at the edge of Downtown Denver, is home to the aquarium as it was home to some of the first settlers.

Colorado’s Ocean Journey plays an important role in the river park expansion and activation along with its neighbors, the Children’s Museum, Six Flags Elitch Gardens amusement park, Coors Field baseball stadium, the Pepsi Center sports arena and the interconnecting trolley.

Outdoor natural exhibits and an amphitheater interact with and contribute to the natural river’s edge in this urban setting.
