The triangle parcel site at 16 Wewatta Street has several unique urban design patterns that will inform the design strategy for the new office building. The figure-ground drawing illustrates what is perhaps the most important aspect of the site. In contrast to many other urban buildings, this parcel functions more as a figure within the urban fabric. Each side of the site is bounded by a major public space which defines the site and essentially separates the building from the adjoining context. Each of the primary approaches, Wewatta Street, the 16th Street Mall and Old Wewatta Plaza provide a singular image of the building thereby reinforcing the idea of a figure within the urban context.

A simple prism of glass with a contemporary, modern base will give this building a distinctive identity that will resonate with prospective tenants and become a landmark in Denver. The clear iconic gesture becomes the focus of views into the site from the corner of 15th and Wewatta Street and from Millennium Bridge. Equally important, because of the 70′-0″ ROW, pedestrians approaching from the east end of the Mall will experience this building as a unique object within the fabric of the city.

The Triangle Building is sophisticated in its straightforward way of engaging the immediate site, the program and the broader urban context.
