The new Innovation Center is designed to transform the classic school setting to foster an atmosphere of experience-based learning. Embodying and celebrating the program’s mission to promote student research, development and making, the design proposal provides a rich environment that maximizes collaboration and interactions through a range of maker studios, fabrication laboratories, flexible classrooms and open gathering and meeting spaces.

Clean fabrication labs form a showcase for visitors on the highly technical work conducted by students. Enterprise Zone is a professional work setting for students, supporting their start-up businesses, with conference spaces supporting interface with industry companies. The Pitch Room serves as the venue for students to sell their service and products. P-Tech is organized as STEM suites, with lab, classroom and flex spaces creating an ecosystem of spaces to support active-learning. The loft-like platform connecting these provides flexible areas for both study and respite. A commons area supports the day-to-day activities of the students and special events, ranging from formal presentations to robotics track competitions. Tiered seating organically weaves throughout to promote congregation throughout the day, evoking the character of mountain canyons. The new Innovation Center will foster an atmosphere of research and development; of entrepreneurial rigor; and of making relevant products for the world.
